Stolen Car Hits Police Cruiser

Three teens are arrested after hitting a police cruiser and hiding from officers.

The St. Petersburg Police Department says just after 6:00 a.m. this morning, St. Petersburg Police Department patrol officers responded to a suspicious vehicle call at 1244 Dayton Street South.

Once the officers arrived, they saw a previously reported stolen car. As a K-9 Officer and his dog were on foot, the driver of the stolen car backed into the unoccupied K-9 cruiser and tried to hit the K-9 Officer and his dog. The stolen car then fled. The K-9 Officer and his dog were not injured and the K-9 cruiser had minor damage.

Other officers used stop sticks near 13th Avenue South and 30th Street to disable the stolen car. Three teens then bailed and ran from the stolen car.

Two of the teens were caught quickly and arrested. The third teen was hiding nearby and was located by a K-9 dog.
