St. Pete Burglar Surrenders At K-9 Presence

At 2:19pm on September 2nd, 2014, the Pinellas Park Police Department received a call in reference to a suspicious subject in the 4300 block of 83rd Avenue N. It was reported by a neighbor that a male subject had entered into the private residence at 8321 43rd Way N. The caller stated that the male did not belong there and asked that the police respond.

When officers arrived on scene, they saw the suspect as still inside the residence. The suspect was seen on several occasions attempting to flee from the residence, however each time he was challenged by police he refused commands to exit and continued to retreat inside the home. A police K-9 Unit was deployed and when the suspect was confronted with the presence of the police dog, he immediately surrendered.

The suspect in this case has been identified as Christopher Tierney, 25.

Tierney ransacked the home during this crime and did arm himself with a handgun in the commission of the burglary. Tierney is a convicted felon. Tierney was released from prison on 02/26/12 where he served 18 months for burglary.

Tierney was booked into the Pinellas County Jail and was charged with Armed Burglary, Resisting Arrest without Violence, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
