1 Dead, 1 Injured In St. Pete Shooting

St. Petersburg police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 4100 block of 3rd Avenue South.

Police say the initial call came in around 9:36 p.m. and involves two 17-year-olds. Both victims were transported to the hospital; one as a trauma alert. One of the two victims died at the hospital. The second is in stable condition and his wounds are not considered life-threatening.

The identities of both victims are pending notification of the family.

At this time investigators believe that the two victims were passengers in a vehicle when a second car pulled next to them and the occupants fired multiple shots at their car. The wounded victims were then dropped off in the alley behind 4130 3rd Avenue South where police were called. The car that they were in at the time of the shooting has been recovered at a different location.

The actual location of the shooting, the identity of the suspects and the motive are still under investigation.
