Ruskin Woman Arrested For Animal Abuse

Maria Rodriguez Alvarado 2Deputies were called out to 329 1st St. NW in Ruskin on Thursday in reference to a person abusing a pit bull. When they arrived, they noticed the dog chained to a tree.

Police say its shoulder blades, spine, rib cage and pelvic bones were visibly showing. They located and questioned the dog’s owner, Maria Del Rodriguez Alvarado.

While investigating the incident, deputies learned that Rodriguez Alvarado had gone up to one week without feeding the dog or providing shelter.

Animal control came out and took custody of the dog.

Rodriguez Alvarado was arrested and transported to the Orient Road Jail.
