Rollover Crash On I-275 Closes Road For Hours

On April 18th at 1:10 AM, a 1999 Mercury SW was traveling northbound on I-275 near Milepost 58 in the center lane.

According to a police report, the vehicle overtook and struck the rear right of a 2004 Chevy 3500, which was northbound in the inside lane.

Post-impact, the Chevy rotated into the median and struck the guardrail while the Mercury overturned and came to rest across the inside and center northbound lanes.

As the Mercury overturned, the driver was not wearing a setbelt and was ejected onto the roadway and the car was then struck by a semi, which was northbound in the center lane. The driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to Tampa General Hospital. No other driver was hurt in the incident.

Both vehicles then came to rest in the northbound lanes.

The crash closed the northbound lanes of traffic until 6:30 AM.
