Rick Scott Wants Another Boost In Money For Schools

rick scottTALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida Gov. Rick Scott wants more money for public schools in the coming year, but he’s not asking for as big of an increase as he did last year.

Scott will outline his education budget recommendations on Monday during a stop in Delray Beach.

The Republican governor wants state legislators to boost spending on public schools by $542 million.

The Scott administration says that the budget request would result in a record level of nearly $19 billion for schools.

Scott says the budget would provide the “tools, training and funding to give our students the best chance for success.”

Last year Scott asked for a $1.2 billion increase.

Scott’s budget request for education will also include $2 billion for state colleges and $3.59 billion for the state university system.
