Red Light Cameras Will Not Be Used In St. Pete Anymore

By a vote of 6-2, the St. Petersburg City Council decided to end its use of red light cameras.

The commissioners voted to end its contract after the city breaks even on the cost of the operation, or by Sept 30th, whichever comes first.

Commissioner Jim Kennedy voted against it. He wanted the cameras to remain, saying the cameras have led to a drop in red light runners. He felt the expense was worth it for public safety.
