Racial Tensions Remain High Outside Of St. Louis

Michael Brown St Louis

Eighteen year old Michael Brown, who was unarmed, was shot Saturday by a Ferguson police officer while walking with a friend down the center of the street. Police have said a scuffle broke out after the officer asked the boys to move to the side.

Witnesses say Brown’s arms were in the air — in a sign of surrender — as a white policeman repeatedly shot the black youth. The incident has led to continued angry protests, clashes with riot police, and a federal investigation. On Tuesday, the Ferguson police chief announced that they will not be releasing the name of the offer that shot Brown.

More protests are planned for Tuesday night. Jim Ryan remains in Ferguson and will have the latest.
