Police: Woman Put Fecal Matter In Husband’s IV

CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) — Police in a Phoenix suburb say an Arizona woman is accused of injecting fecal matter into her hospitalized husband’s IV.

Chandler police say 65-year-old Rose Mary Vogel was arrested Thursday after a nurse found the woman handling the IV. The line contained a substance that the hospital identified as fecal matter.

Vogel of nearby Sun Lakes has been arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder. Police say three syringes were discovered in her purse. Two of the syringes had a clear liquid and one contained a brown substance.

Police say the 66-year-old husband had been hospitalized for a heart procedure. He’s expected to recover from that, as well as the alleged attempt on his life.

Police say they don’t have a possible motive. It’s unknown whether Vogel has a lawyer.
