On April 16, 2014 at 7:03 a.m., St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue responded to a motor vehicle crash at 10596 Gandy Blvd North.
There were two vehicles involved in the collision. The crash occurred in the eastbound lane on Gandy Blvd; causing a major backup and delays into Tampa.
According to police, one of the vehicles was a blue minivan, which turned over on its side and the driver of that vehicle had to be extricated. The minivan driver was treated and transported to Bayfront Health for evaluation. She appeared to havenon-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle was treated and refused transport at the scene, police say.
Florida Highway Patrol is completing their investigation into the crash.
