St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue responded to a motor vehicle crash at 118th Ave and I-275. This was a single vehicle crash.
The crash occurred on the exit ramp of I-275 and 118th. The vehicle involved in the crash rolled down the embankment and the driver of the vehicle was partially ejected. Bystanders reported that the driver was pinned under the driver side of the vehicle. By the time Fire & Rescue crews arrived on scene, the bystanders had rolled the vehicle off of the driver.
The driver was a 35 year old male and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Rescue crews. The passenger was still in the vehicle and had to be extricated by St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue crews on scene.
The passenger was a 31 year old female, with critical injuries and she was trauma alert to Bayfront Health Center of St. Petersburg.
Florida Highway Patrol is completing their investigation into the crash and will release information as it comes available.
