1 DEAD IN SMALL PLANE CRASH
A man is dead following a small plane crash off Elliot Key near Miami. Miami-Dade police say the crash happened Sunday afternoon about 200 feet off shore. The Marine Patrol division located the crash site, where they found the plane submerged in the water. Divers found the body inside the plane.
BOY, 4, FOUND DEAD ON TAMPA ROAD
Tampa police say a 4-year-old boy is dead after being found on a road. Dispatchers received a call around 9:45 p.m. Sunday regarding a child in the road. A witness told officers the child “came from a car.” Detectives are looking at video on red light and business cameras in the area for any clues about what happened. They say the suspect vehicle is possible a green Ford Expedition.
LANDLORD ACCUSED OF STABBING LAKE CITY TENANTS
A Lake City landlord is accused of stabbing two tenants and cutting another after stopping by their rental home to inform them the power was going to be turned off. Police say an argument began after Donald and Leah Fanslow stopped by the home Saturday night. That’s when 46-year-old Donald Fanslow pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed two men and cut a female tenant. His 48-year-old wife also was cut.
FLORIDA LEADS NATION IN FORECLOSURES
Florida led the nation in foreclosures during the first half of the year. A report released last week by the research firm RealtyTrac says Florida’s foreclosure rate was the nation’s highest for the first half of 2014. RealtyTrac says 1 in 74 Florida homes had a foreclosure filing in the first six months of the year.
DIRECT FLIGHTS BETWEEN ORLANDO AND BELFAST
Air travelers soon will be able to fly directly between Orlando and Northern Ireland. Officials announced last week that Virgin Atlantic will start direct flights between Belfast and Orlando International Airport next year.
