Merritt Island: Teen Accidently Shoots Self At Gun Range

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a teenager is hospitalized after accidentally shooting herself in the leg at a central Florida gun range.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the girl was at the Merritt Island gun range with her father Thursday afternoon when her handgun accidentally fired one shot.

A sheriff’s office spokesman tells WESH-TV (http://bit.ly/19Er543 ) that the teen was struck by a bullet in the thigh. She was flown to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The sheriff’s office says the shooting was accidental and there will not be an investigation.
