Melbourne: Suspect faces slew of charges after Brevard chase

An Apopka man is accused of trying to run over a Melbourne police officer twice, triggering a car chase up U.S. 1 into Rockledge early Saturday.

Officers arrested Brandon Lemar Culver, 28, after a foot chase at Wuesthoff Medical Center-Rockledge. Brevard County Sheriff’s Office deputies flattened two of the tires on his vehicle, Melbourne Police Sgt. Brian Hart reported in a news release.

Culver now faces these charges: battery on a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended license/habitual offender, reckless driving, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, resisting an officer with violence, resisting an officer without violence, criminal mischief and violation of probation.
