A concentrated air and sea search was underway in the Indian Ocean on Tuesday after an Australian ship detected faint pings deep underwater in what an official called “the most promising” yet in the search for Flight 370. Up to 14 planes and as many ships were focusing on a single search area covering 30,000 square miles.
