The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee says it’s time to send in the troops.
Michael McCaul (R-Texas) is leading the charge to have troops with the National Guard sent to the Rio Grande Valley to help deal with the sudden surge in the number of illegal immigrants, especially children, flowing into the United States from Mexico.
An administration official tells ABC News that when all is said and done more than 50% of the unaccompanied minors who come into the U.S. remain in the U.S.
Currently there is a backlog of more than 300,000 unaccompanied minor cases awaiting a decision due to a lack of immigration judges and courts.
