Interview: Deal Struck On VA Reform

Top House and Senate negotiators have reached an agreement to reform the Department of Veterans Affairs. The legislation, which is to be unveiled Monday, is expected to touch on both the short-term and long-term needs of the VA.

The deal comes just days before Congress is set to recess for five weeks. A solution to the border crisis, however, is still lingering. A bipartisan team of Texas lawmakers are entering the final week before recess with high hopes for their “skinned-down” version of the immigration bill.

And on the international front, President Obama continued to pressure Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to reconsider instating an immediate, unconditional humanitarian ceasefire in the region as the death toll topped 1,000.
