GOVERNOR SKIPS AIR SHOW THIS YEAR

Florida Gov. Rick Scott is skipping a trip to an international air show. In 2012 and 2013 took trade mission trips to Paris and London for air shows held in France and the United Kingdom. But Scott isn’t going this year. Instead this week Gray Swoope, the secretary of commerce for the state, is leading a delegation of 11 Florida companies to the Farnborough International Air Show.

2 FLORIDA OFFICERS LEAVE AFTER TIES TO KKK SURFACE

Two police officers in central Florida are no longer with their department after a report tied them to the Ku Klux Klan. Fruitland Park City Manager Gary La Venia said Monday that Deputy Chief David Borst resigned and Officer George Hunnewell was fired last week. La Venia says the small city of 5,000 residents located west of Orlando has been rocked by the allegations.

INVESTOR GROUP CHIEF CHARGED IN FLORIDA PONZI SCAM

The former head of a Florida investment group has been charged with fraud for his alleged role in disbarred attorney Scott Rothstein’s $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme. Prosecutors on Monday charged Frank Preve with wire fraud conspiracy, which carries a five-year maximum prison sentence. Preve ran the Banyon Group, which invested in Rothstein’s supposedly confidential legal settlements that turned out to be bogus.

CENTRAL FLORIDA MAN DIES AFTER BEING PINNED UNDER RIDING LAWN MOWER

Authorities say a 68-year-old central Florida man is dead after being trapped under a riding lawn mower that apparently fell off the back of a trailer while he was sitting on it. The body of Michael Giles was spotted Sunday evening by someone who was passing by the area near Seville in central Florida.

MAN FATALLY STABS BROTHER DURING ARGUMENT

Police say a 20-year-old man fatally stabbed his older brother during a fight at the Largo home they shared. Largo police say they were called to the home Monday morning after the two men began arguing. Police say the younger brother grabbed a pair of scissors from a nearby table and stabbed his sibling in the chest. The 26-year-old died at the scene. The younger brother is charged with second-degree murder.
