GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida’s consumer confidence is holding steady.
The monthly University of Florida survey released Tuesday shows the state’s consumer confidence was 78 in the month of February. That’s on a scale of 2 to 150 benchmarked to 1966 at a value of 100.
The consumer confidence rate remains unchanged from January.
Chris McCarty, director of the UF center that does the survey, cautioned that the survey showed that Floridians view about their personal finances has gotten worse. Respondents also were more pessimistic about whether they would be better off economically in a year.
McCarty said it was not clear what is creating this “growing pessimism” among Floridians. But the survey also showed more Floridians think it is a good time to buy big-ticket items like cars.
