According to Tampa Fire Rescue, crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 6421 N. Florida Ave last night around 2:00 AM.
When fire crews arrived on scene they were met with heavy smoke conditions and flames coming from the rear of the commercial building. The building is home to Domani Bistro Lounge and A Modern Line (furniture and lighting company). First arriving firefighters made entry into Domani’s Bistro Lounge in efforts to attack quick-moving flames.
After several minutes, firefighters encountered rapidly deteriorating fire conditions and were evacuated from the building. A second alarm was requested and a defensive fire attack operation was begun. Crews battled raging flames from two aerial ladder trucks and several hose lines for upwards of two hours before gaining control of this blaze.
Firefighters encountered difficulty in reaching several areas in this building due to many portions of the roof collapsing and because of heavy content and fire load. Both buildings have sustained significant fire, smoke, and water damage.
Tampa Fire Marshal investigators will be on scene for several hours working to determine the cause of the fire. Approximately 60 firefighters responded to the scene of this blaze. There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. Florida Ave is closed from E. Lambright St. to E. Hanna.
