DUI Checkpoints: Hillsborough, Polk Counties

Tampa, Florida – The Florida Highway Patrol will be hosting multi-agency DUI Checkpoints and Saturation Patrols in Hillsborough and Polk Counties on Friday, May 23, 2014, beginning at 8:00 PM and concluding at 4:00 AM the following morning. Enforcement in Hillsborough County will focus on Interstates 4 and 275, while in Polk County enforcement will focus on Interstate 4, State Road 60 and US Highways 98, 27, 17 and 92.

The Florida Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, and Police Departments from Tampa, Auburndale, Winter Haven, Lake Hamilton, Davenport, Lake Alfred, and Haines City, will work to create a safe driving environment for motorists and pedestrians through a zero tolerance, specifically targeted and assertive traffic enforcement program that focuses on DUI enforcement in an effort to combat drinking and driving offenses that continue to claim lives each year throughout the Tampa Bay area.

We ask our local media partners to assist us by getting our important message out there. Don’t drink and drive, have a designated driver, buckle up yourself and passengers, and remove distractions from your driving environment – together we can all make Florida’s highways safe!
