Dee Dee Moore Found Guilty

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ A woman has been convicted of first-degree murder in the slaying of a lottery winner in central Florida.

Jurors deliberated for more than three hours Monday before delivering their verdict.

Dorice “Dee Dee” Moore was accused of killing Abraham Shakespeare, who won millions in 2006. Shakespeare’s family sat in the front row.

Prosecutors built much of their case from confidential informant’s statements and financial records.

Moore’s defense attorney argued that police mistakenly focused solely on Moore and “didn’t even consider other people.”

Judge Emmett Battles instructed the jury that it could convict her of a lesser charge.
