Boy Tears Achilles Tendon In Shark Bite

A third grade boy was swimming with his mother near Patrick Air Force Base when the two saw a gray fin pop out of the water.

Christian Sanhueza, 9, was boogie boarding in chest deep water when he was suddenly pulled underwater and popped up a few seconds later screaming “Mommy, a shark bit my foot,” according to WFTV.

The two have no clue what type of shark it was but it was about three feet long. Regardless, he has undergone two surgeries at First Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne. USA TODAY reports that his mother says he is doing fine.

Thirteen shark attacks have already taken place in Florida in 2014, according to TrackingSharks.com.
