ATM Compromised In Stewart

This afternooon, Stuart Police responded to 2343 S. federal Highway in reference to an ATM that had been compromised.

A customer attempted to use the Bank of America ATM at 12:59 p.m. today and had problems with his credit card going in or coming out of the ATM smoothly. The customer fidgeted with the card reader causing the card reader to disconnect. Upon closer evaluation it appeared that there was a card reader attached to another card reader.

When the police arrived, they discovered additional add-on components to the ATM that would enhance an identity theft and potential thefts from customers.

If you’ve recently used the ATM at this location you’re advised to to contact the Bank of America to see if their information may have been compromised.
