Amtrak Train Clips Car, Causes Minor Injuries

Amtrak TrainORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — An Amtrak train clipped a car whose driver maneuvered past the track’s warning arm guard, causing minor injuries to the car passengers.

Sgt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol says none of the train’s more than 150 passengers had noticeable injuries after Monday’s accident, although one passenger asked to be checked out by paramedics.

The driver of the car tried to get around the arm guard as it came down.

Montes says the front of the train clipped the rear of the Toyota Corolla.

The driver’s 6-month-old son was ejected from the car at impact but he had only minor injuries.

The boy’s mother, who was a passenger in the car, also was hospitalized but didn’t have serious injuries.
