1 Dead In Overnight Riverview Car Crash

A 22-year-old man is dead after an overnight crash in Riverview.

On June 26, 2014 at 12:54 am, a 2001 Honda Civic driven by 22-year-old Rodwell Naughton was entering Boyette Road from a private driveway to go eastbound. He pulled onto the road without any lights on and in the path of a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder, who was also eastbound.

The Nissan Pathfinder driven by 56-year-old Ennis Alvarez struck the Honda Civic in the rear causing Honda Civic to travel approximately 75 feet while spinning. The driver’s door of the Honda Civic opened from the impact and the driver, Rodwell Naughton, was ejected and expired at the scene from his injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.

While there were no indications of impairment on the part of the driver of Nissan Pathfinder he did consent to a blood test to verify.

Open containers of alcoholic beverages were found in the Honda Civic.

The investigation is still ongoing.
