Man Held At Gunpoint Until Police Arrive
A St. Pete man held a burglar at gunpoint until police arrived. Last night around 4:27 a.m., Joseph Cihak woke up to go to the bathroom.
Joseph Cihak heard noises in the house and found Bryan Remley, 25, going through his belongings. Cihak’s wife heard the commotion from the bedroom and called 9-1-1.
Cihak told police that when Remley saw him, he started to run towards him so he fired two shots from his handgun. The gun jammed and he ran to the other room to get a new one. At this point, Remley tried to escape but when Cihak returned, he saw Remley lying on the kitchen floor.
Cihak held him at gunpoint until the cops arrived. Police found a 3-4 inch bladein a holster on Remley. He is charged iwth armed residential burglary and violation of probation, and an oustanding warrant from Seminole County from petit theft.
This is the second time someone burglarized the home. On August 28, someone entered the home while they were there, so Chihak and his wife have a plan to be armed with a gun whenever they get up in the middle of the night.
