Jeff Bridges on ‘R.I.P.D.’
Jeff Bridges may have six Academy Award nominations and one Oscar win under his belt, but not all his movies are sterling works of art. That was proven this summer with his critically-panned flop “R.I.P.D.”
The ghostbusting action flick was D.O.A. at the box office, making just $12.7 million in its opening weekend (it cost $130 million to make). In the October issue of GQ, Bridges acknowledges that the movie, which also starred Ryan Reynolds, wasn’t a highlight on his film resume.
“I had such a great time working on that movie. I remember what we were doing. I thought: This could be fun to see,” he said. “And when I saw it, I was a little underwhelmed. For my mind, the studio made some, uh, choices that I wouldn’t have made.”
Very diplomatic, Jeff.
The failure of “R.I.P.D.” was an interesting experience for Bridges, who tends to star in smaller movies with lower expectations.
