Hernando County Detective Promoted To Sergeant
Sergeant Hillman will serve in the Patrol Division of the Hernando County Sheriff's Office in District Two.
Sergeant Hillman started his career at the Hernando County Sheriff's Office as an Explorer in September of 1996. He diligently worked his way up to the rank of Explorer Lieutenant before resigning from the Explorer post to start a full time career with the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
In December of 2000, Sergeant Hillman was hired as a call taker in the Emergency Communications Center where he worked three years. As a Telecommunicator, he achieved the rank of dispatcher.
In 2003 Sergeant Hillman was appointed as a Public Service Aide (PSA). While working as a PSA, he attended the Law Enforcement Academy at Withlacoochee Technical Institute in Inverness, Florida.
Upon completion of the Law Enforcement Academy, Sergeant Hillman became a Deputy Sheriff assigned to the patrol division from 2005-2010. As a patrol deputy he was assigned many duties including Field Training Officer (FTO), Honor Guard, Traffic Unit, and Rapid Response Team (RRT).
In 2013 Sergeant Hillman was assigned as a property crimes detective in District Two.
Sergeant Hillman was born and raised in Brooksville. He is happily married to his wife Dawn, who is employed at the Hernando County Detention Center as a nurse. They have five children.
