MIAMI HEAT’S DWYANE WADE ENLISTED HELP FROM SONS, NEPHEW TO HELP PROPOSE TO ACTRESS GABRIELLE UNION

Wade told The Associated Press that no date for the wedding has been set, but expects it to occur in September 2014. He also said he’s been working on finding the right ring since October, around the time that the Heat returned from training camp in the Bahamas. Wade gave Union an 8½-carat cushion cut diamond ring in a surprise the three boys helped orchestrate.

GOV. RICK SCOTT JOINED ROUGHLY 2,000 MOURNERS AT FUNERAL FOR NORTH FLORIDA SHERIFF

Union County Sheriff Jerry Whitehead died Wednesday an apparent heart attack following a brief illness. He took office in 1985 and was the longest-serving sheriff in Florida history. Dozens of other sheriffs joined the mourners Saturday in Lake Butler. Whitehead was buried in a nearby cemetery.

BEAR CUB CONNECTED TO MAULING OF CENTRAL FLORIDA WOMAN IS STRUCK AND KILLED BY CAR

Wildlife officials had been looking for the 65-pound female cub to reunite it with its mother, which was positively identified through DNA as the bear that mauled Susan Chalfant in Longwood on Dec. 2. The mother bear was not euthanized because it was captured with two cubs. The bears are being cared for at Busch Gardens in Tampa. The third cub died Saturday in Longwood.

MIAMI DOLPHINS SHUT OUT BY BUFFALO BILLS, PLAYOFF HOPES ON HOLD

The Miami Dolphins are hanging on to playoff hopes despite being shut out by the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. As the Dolphins prepare to play the New York Jets next Sunday, they remain in the case for a wildcard spot along with the Baltimore Ravens, the San Diego Charges and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

POLICE SEEK TRUCK FILLED WITH FROZEN FOOD

Police in Winter Haven are asking for the public’s help in finding the suspects who took a tractor trailer filled with 41,000 pounds of frozen foods.
