REMAINING BIEBER VIDEO AT ISSUE IN FLORIDA HEARING
A South Florida judge could decide whether to allow the release of remaining police video of Justin Bieber depicting the singer urinating into a cup for a drug test. Miami-Dade County Judge William Altfield set a hearing Tuesday afternoon after reviewing the five video clips. Lawyers for Bieber, who turned 20 on Saturday, are attempting to block the video's release as an invasion of privacy.
FLORIDA GOV. SCOTT TO GIVE STATE OF THE STATE SPEECH
Gov. Rick Scott will give his last State of the State speech before asking voters to give him a second term in November. The speech Tuesday will highlight accomplishments of his first three years in office and lay out goals for the final year of his term. The speech marks the opening of the 60-day legislative session. Scott will tell lawmakers that he wants to continue cutting taxes, including proposals for $500 million in cuts this year.
PANTHER RECOVERS FROM CAR CRASH, SET FOR RELEASE
Florida wildlife officials say a young endangered panther that had been struck by a car is ready to be released back into the wild. Biologists with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission plan to release the panther Wednesday afternoon in southeastern Hendry County. The commission says the female panther was rescued as a kitten in May and needed surgery.
SENATE SET TO PASS TOUGHER SEXUAL PREDATOR BILLS
A package of bills designed to strengthen sexual predator laws will be the first measures the Senate passes when it opens its annual session. The four bills will be voted on Tuesday. They're designed to tighten loopholes in a law that allows the state to civilly commit the most dangerous sexual offenders once they've finished their prison terms.
SEA TURTLE NESTING SEASON BEGINS IN FLORIDA
State wildlife officials are hoping for another good sea turtle nesting season. This year's nesting season officially began Saturday. This month, leatherback sea turtles will begin laying eggs along Florida's Atlantic coast. Later this spring, loggerhead and green sea turtles will begin laying eggs in other coastal counties.
