Dozens Hospitalized In After Avicii Concert

Dozens of people attending an Avicii concert at the TD Garden in Boston had to be hospitalized Wednesday night after consuming “a dangerous substance.” Most of those affected are between age 16 and 25.

According to the Boston Globe, somewhere between 50 and 80 people were taken to area hospitals, including Tufts Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital. Others were treated by Boston EMS at the venue.

Reports differ from concert goers and officials but at least a dozen ambulances were on scene helping transport those affected. According to EMS on scene, none of those hospitalized are facing life-threatening injuries.

Boston EMS say that the hospitalizations are credit of drugs, most likely hallucinations, alcohol, heat and exhaustion.

Many at the concert posted videos on Instagram that shows the size and energy of the crowd.

One person shared a video of police trying to arouse a drunk concert goer. We don’t know if this is one of those hospitalized or not.

Live Nation Entertainment, the organizers of the Avicii concert at TD Garden, released a statement regarding the incident. They say that many of those hospitalized were not admitted into the venue because they allegedly showed up drunk.

“While this is still a developing situation, based on early reports from the venue it appears the majority of the transports were people outside the venue who were too impaired to be allowed inside the venue and access to the concert. Out of an abundance of caution they were transported for medical evaluation and assistance.”

Avicii also sent a tweet after he heard about the hospitalized patients.
