On March 14th at 8:46 AM, a dump truck operated by Aljovin Corporation out of Tampa was traveling westbound on Roosevelt Boulevard near Bay Vista Drive when the driver lost control of the unloaded vehicle.
The vehicle traveled to the shoulder and collided with several power and utility poles. Raul German Llanes, 36, of Tampa was transported to Bayfront Medical Center where he was treated and released for minor injuries. Damaged in the collision were several utility poles maintained by Duke Energy, Brighthouse and Verizon, as well as signs owned by area businesses.
The crash closed Roosevelt Boulevard in both directions until 10:00 AM when the eastbound lanes re-opened. Currently the westbound lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard from CR-611 to Bay Vista Drive remain closed while utility crews work to repair the damage.
