60 Arrested After Senior School Prank
Sixty-two students were arrested in New Jersey after they allegedly broke into their school for a class prank. Activities included flipping desks, urinating on hallways, and greasing door handles, according to NBC 4 in New York.
Police responded to a burglary alarm at Teaneck High School just before 2:30 am, the report says.
When they got there, they found dozens of students trying to run away, but found several hiding and significant damage throughout the school. They found balloons, petroleum jelly on door knobs, and pee in the hallways. They watched some of the crimes on the school’s security cameras.
“I’ve been a police officer 19 years, and this is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen,” police Sargent John Garland said.
The students claimed it was a class prank but learned the activities are to be taken seriously. Police had to make several trips taking them into custody because there were so many — 62 were arrested, 32 were juveniles and were released to their parents. The others are facing burglary and criminal mischief charges.
