3 Arrested in St. Petersburg Burglary Sting

St. Petersburg detectives have charged three suspects in a series of residential burglaries to unoccupied homes in the SE section of the City. Detectives believe these suspects maybe be responsible for as many as thirteen burglaries which took place in an area south of 17 Avenue SE to Bayside Drive SE, from east of 4th Street South to Tampa Bay.

The string of burglaries began on June 14th, 2014 and ended on July 9th when two the suspects, Spivey and Jenkins, were capture in the act of breaking into a home in the 2300 block of Tropical Shores Dr South by detectives from the Department’s CASE Unit. Their arrests led to the identification of the third suspect, Karin Yearwood.

Yearwood was found in possession of numerous items of stolen property taking in the burglaries which included DVD players, gaming systems, televisions and speakers. Detectives are in the process of identifying the owners of the property and arranging for their return.

Yearwood is currently charged with 7 counts of residential burglary while Spivey and Jenkins are charged with one count each. Spivey is also charged with resisting arrest with violence which stemmed from his kicking a detective who was attempting to arrest him as he attempted to flee from the scene of a burglary.
